GCFC 13s v Warnboro Strikers

Played : 9.30am, 2nd May, 2010 at Warnboro Recreation Center

Result : Warnboro Strikers 3 v GCFC 2

This was an unfortunate loss, our boys started on the front foot, with Ahmed scoring the first goal in the 10th minute of the game and great backing up by Josh in midfield. The last 15 minutes of the first half we let our guard down, and Warnboro scored 3 goals, including one that appeared to have the wind on its side, turned into the nets off a 'corner' in the dying minutes of the first half.

In the second half Gosnells bounced back with good play by the entire team, Ahmed received our (MVP) for his endless efforts in the midfield, there was a spectacular save by keeper Lennon and the only goal in the second half scored by Zane. However, a few missed opportunities cost us dearly and we ran out of time to turn the game around completely.

Chin up boys, even more reason to play hard and hope for a positive result in our next home game!

Thanks to Danielle for the Oranges and Darren for running being our linesman.

GCFC 12s Pre Season Cup Competition

Played : 13th and 14th March, 2010 at Balcatta Soccer Club

GCFC 12 was recently invited to the 'The Westend Concrete Alliance Cup' held by the Balcatta Soccer Club.

The event in its second year was held over the weekend of the 13th and 14th of March. A mixture of North and South teams attended (12 teams in total) Balcatta, ECU, Forrestfield, Rockingham, ECU 11's, Inglewood, Melville, Quinns, Stirling, Waneroo, Perth & Gosnells. GCFC were drawn in the group with Balcatta, Forrestfield and ECU 11's.

First game against Balcatta in the 1st half we played extremely well, taking a 2 -1 lead to half time, confidence was up. Second half saw more pressure from Balcatta who were successful from set pieces to take the game out 4-2. The guys all played well for their first time together, especially as numbers of players were brought in as part of the grading process.

Our second game was against our arch enemies Forrestfield (The Academy side) the team that we lost to and beat last season (apparently their only loss for the season). The game was played with high intensity and great skill on both sides; going in at half time one each (1-1) you could see our players wanted the win. Julian and Kev the coaching staff at F'Field knew they were in for a tough second half. Second half saw end to end play, goalkeeper Jordan Parfitt who kept goals for the entire carnival for GCFC kept us in the game on numerous occasions, putting his body on line, he had a great second half to deny F'Field . We eventually broke them down with great penetration through the middle of the park and scored with 5 minutes to go, celebrations all round when the final whistle blew.

After a lengthy lunch break and with all the player full of chips and soft drink we were very sluggish against ECU'11and unfortunately went down to a good side, lesson learnt for next year, salads and watermelon we think.

The following day we had a play off with Rockingham City and was successful in a very fast paced game, GCFC taking the game out 7-1 well done guys was a great game.

Thanks to Neil Parfitt the 12 Blue Team Manager who was the Club Official on the day and ensured everything went to plan.

Well done to all those who took part you were all well behaved and represented the club in a courteous and professional manner. A Big Clap to all the parents who were taxi drivers and supporters over the two days. We will win it next year!!

GCFC 13s v Melville City

Played : 18th April, 2010 at Len Shearer Reserve

Result : Melville City 2 v GCFC 2

Exciting start for Gosnells with Ahmed scoring the first Goal 9 mins into the game.

In the first half, the game was evenly paced with a great performance by Brydon in defence, his speed and pressure on the Melville strikers stopped them in their tracks.

Syahru controlled the ball well in the centre of the field.

Magnificent attack by Zane who took 6 shots at goal through the game, extremely close and unlucky not to find the back of the nets.

In the second half Ryan (MVP) set up the midfield with well aimed passes from the defence wing.

Ahmed, ever dependable scored both our goals to see another draw.

Another fantastic effort by the entire Gosnells 13's team! Hang in there, a win is just around the corner!

Thanks to the parents who pitched in and to Coach Phil for teaching our boys valuable soccer skills and training hard through the rough weather!

Sunday June 24 2007 - Gosnells 12's Div 1 v Fremantle SC

A comfortable win for the Boys in Blue

Spurred on by the promise of crisps and coke for a win, the Gosnells U/12's Div 1 team picked up all three points on Sunday in what could have been their least testing game of the season so far.

However the boys in blue didn't have it their own way for the entire game as Fremantle SC was the first team to threaten the goals. Their efforts were thwarted by the quick reflexes of the Gossie keeper Sam Hickey, parring away a close range effort to safety. This would prove to be Fremantle's only serious attack on the Gosnells goal for the entire game. This seemed to have triggered awake-up call for Gosnells. Moments later a strong run down the left flank allowed Tre Peters to put the home team ahead with a thunderous strike.

Gosnells dominated the game from that point onwards and were rewarded with a second goal by some great team work. A Michael Ellis cross found Omar Siddidiqi alone in the opposition half where he then unselfishly laid it on to the on running Johno Corness to strike the ball into the back of the net.

Two nil down Fremantle came out in the second half with a little more vigour but were unable to penetrate the Gosnells defence which stood up to every challenge made on them. Tim Coveney's height and strength for Gosnells easily withstood the aerial threat from Freo.

Chasing the game Freo pushed players forward to salvage some pride when they were caught on the break. A Tony Chandler lung bursting run found him in the opposition's box to slot home a Gosnells third goal. This was the breaking point for Freo and Gosnells saw the game out comfortably to the final whistle.
