MATCH REVIEW......NUMBATS GAME ...... Gosnells 4 v's Canning 0

WOW you really made Scott's day and he was so proud of you all! The "Defence Duo" of Faduma and Colby just worked a treat with very little getting close to the goal and when it did, Jacob T was there ready and waiting! Birthday Boy Benaldy, had a few chances but the ball just never fell his way, but he really aced some powerful throw ins! Yusuf's passion to win the ball everytime had Canning frustrated and resulted in many great opportunites for us! Amin was on fire with the ball finding his feet and 2 goals for the game....could have been another, but the ball just flew over the top of the goal! Steven made his mark down the wing, had a few unlucky shots on goal and played like a legend defending with any part of his body!!! Rhyan came on as sub just at the end to relieve a worn out Benaldy and his fresh legs kept the pressure on!

MATCH REVIEW......MAGPIES GAME ...... Gosnells 0 v's Canning 5

It was so great to see the sun shining and so many parent's on the sideline! Tiahna had busily prepared herself for her turn in goal, practicing all week! You were a star Tiahna and I am sure I could see your heart pounding away from the sidelines but it's all about giving it a go, you did and you did it well! Super GIRL POWER and I hope you enjoy your team award! Tara also did the girl's proud with some fierce tackles in the mid-field! Brandon's sheer determination was AWESOME and left Canning gobsmacked as I am sure they thought you would be an easy target but you wowed us all (and Scott) with your turns and prevented what looked like certain goal opportunities! Jacob G was all power again and a valuable player, letting little out of his sight...even making a great shot at goal. Mitchell played an explosive game with great passing down the pitch and looking for free players to pass to...smart playing!! Yasiin came with his fan club in toe and was on fire throughout the game, earning himself a team award! Jacob T played well on the field running up and down the pitch chasing the attacking well and then did a great job second half in goals for us! Rhyan showed some good ball control as he tried to weave through players and covered lots of ground with those little legs! Each week we are improving and we are playing great soccer!

MATCH REVIEW......NUMBATS GAME ...... Gosnells 4 v's Canning 7

We got off to a great start, but Canning seemed to just get on top of us a little and luck seemed to go their way! Our brave little goalies did an awesome job and Benaldy saved some crackers! Rhyan was goalie the 2nd half and tried his hardest and made some great leaping saves! Great job boys! Yusuf was first class again this week with some great turns and outran his opponent several times and had time to score a goal too! Colby found the back of the net twice and did a tremendous job of keeping on top of the game. Brendon kindly filled in for the numbats after his match and played a very impressive game making some spectacular tackles which prevented goals being scored against us! Amin was awesome in both a defensive role, making sure his man was marked and attack role scoring one! Steven was dynamite yet again always trying to read the play and how can we forget our little "pocket rocket" Faduma who gives 100% all the time ...she never gave up on goal opportunities and kept chasing the ball!

MATCH REVIEW......MAGPIES GAME ...... Gosnells 2 v's Canning 10

It just didn't seem to be our match and although we probably had the same amount of shots on goal and played just as good soccer as Canning, luck was not on our side. You gave it your all kids, played like little troopers and did us proud and that's all we ask! Brendon again shone on the pitch as a goalie and as a field player and put into practice what he had learnt at training. Mitchell must know Welsh because he always listens to Scott and runs into space...goal keeper training was also put into action with some awesome saves! Jacob had some good luck with his kick offs, catching the goal keepers off guard with his 2 goals! Yasiin was constantly on the ball this week and made some great tackles and huge kicks. Tara never lets the boys get the better of her and took them head on several times! Rhyan had his opponent in shock a few times as he managed to dribble right past them! Tiahna's legs must have been ready to fall off as she chased and chased and chased, never giving up on an opportunity! Well Done Kids.....

Gosnells 5 - Swan United 1

Gosnells welcomed Swan United to their 5th game of the season. Starting out at the whistle Patrick hit a great ball back through to Jordon whose shot at goal rebounded to safety after it hit the post. Jordon went on in the first half to have at least 5 opportunities to score and was unlucky not to get one of them. Gosnells, even though not at their best, created chances but it wasn't until the 10th minute that Daniel powered the ball back past the keeper to open the scoring. The goal celebrations hadn't even died down when Swan got the equaliser.

SSF10 Reds 23rd May 2010

There was nothing else to add about the first half apart from acknowledging Josh making at least two outstanding saves and keeping Gosnells in the game.

SSF10 Reds 23rd May 2010

The Coach gave some words of encouragement at half time which saw the second half starting with a team more like what we are accustomed to. Gosnells was talking more and finding space - we were keeping the back and pressuring Swan who were only down to the occassional break away.

SSF10 Reds 23rd May 2010

After a poor first half everyone went up through the gears. Calvin and Eva put in their all while Ryan was as solid as he has been in all the previous games. Natasha was back to her best as well. James made the saves he had to make in the second half look very easy.

SSF10 Reds 23rd May 2010

10 minutes in to the half, "one word" Maddie powered down the line, shrugging off about three tackles and finished with a coolly taken goal - much to the delight of the crowd! Four minutes later, "sniffer" Josh found himself playing in front of the forward line and put away his first goal of his hat trick. Four minutes later he found himself not only in front of the forward line but also in front of the keeper and Josh poached a goal from some great passing from Daniel. Straight from kick off, Gosnells won the ball back and after a fast break Josh got his deserved hat trick after 1 minute. Madison had another great solo run which almost resulted in another fantastic goal.

SSF10 Reds 23rd May 2010

Daniel was awarded Man of the Match for covering every blade of grass on the pitch and showing some very good team play.

SSF10 Reds 23rd May 2010

Thanks go to our refs for the match Richard and Mark who took on the task at such short notice. The rain held off for our supporters who were there in their usual voice and provided invaluable help in putting the goals away at the end of the game.

The Coach went home a happy man ... well played Gosnells!

Just for fun!

MATCH REVIEW......NUMBATS GAME ......Away to Kelmscott - Gosnells 9 v's Kelmscott 0

What a fantastic match to watch and I hope you kids enjoyed it as much as all the parents and spectators did! Our defence was just awesome and with Jacob and “Tuff” Tara up back making sure nothing got too close to goals, our goalies Yusuf and Amin had little to save! No good getting goals if you can’t stop the other team getting them too!!! A great defence guys! The team work just shone this week and was the secret to our success! There was lots of calling for the ball, passing and running into space! Colby made a statement up front with a goal, Steven again was a valuable player who kept his eye on the game play and Rhyan made sure he chased down everything that came his way! Faduma was dazzling and I just love her no messing attitude! Benaldy had an awesome game and surprised his Dad with all his goals! Let’s do it all again next week!

GOSNELLS CITY SOCCER CLUB UNDER 10 RED

Vic Park Rovers 2 - Gosnells City 6

16th May 2010

Another sunny Sunday morning for the mighty Gosnells. We travelled to Vic Park Rovers for another thoroughly entertaining match. Thanks to Maddie and her Dad for making sure they got to the match despite of car trouble! It makes all the difference for a full team turnout since we only have one sub.

We started in our usual formation with James volunteering to go in the goal for the first half to put his goal keeper training into use - it was a shame his training wasn't put to much practice as the only thing he had to bend down to was to scratch his knee! That was due to great defending from Natasha who got right into the action, "one word" Maddie and the well positioned defending by Ryan. Eva also showed us some solid defending which seemed to increase intensity as the half went on.

Gosnells started very fast and put a lot of early pressure on the Rover's goal. After 7 minutes Patrick calmly slotted in his first goal of the match.

The midfield was mopping up the occasional break from the Rovers. The midfielders of Josh, Calvin, Patrick and Daniel impressed us all by consistent passing of the ball down the line to the forwards. The second goal came 7 minutes after the first with a great finish from Jordan with very good left footed shot on target. It came as no surprise when the third goal came with a very powerful left foot rocket from Josh into the top corner. Two minutes later Patrick popped up in his usual style to get his second goal of the half. The half time whistle followed shortly after leaving us 4 goals up.

At half time, the oranges went down very well from Natasha's family - many thanks.

After being 4 nil up we decided to change the formation around a bit with Daniel and Jordan giving their coach funny looks when told they were playing in defence. Eva took the goal keeping gloves and Ryan had a spell up front and with Patrick. Maddie had a good run playing in midfield and attacking with Natasha. It was great for the chance to try out different positions and to see the versatility of our talented players in action.

Four minutes into the half Eva placed the ball to kick out when the referee said play on and a Rovers forward whipped in and put the ball past to score their first goal. It caught us all by surprise! For the next 10 minutes the game was played from end to end until Jordan, who had been moved back up front, scored his second goal of the game - making him another $10 richer!!

Three minutes after Jordan made it 5 - 1, Daniel, who had had his best game so far, got his reward with a well finished goal. The Rovers second goal came when one of their forwards put a shot straight through.

Calvin was man of the match for putting in 110% into tackling and tirelessly running to get into the thick of the action.

The game was played with good spirits from both sides. Well played to all the players - you are all listening at training and trying to bring it on to the pitch. We saw a lot of headers - we will be practicing again on Wednesday ;)

Finally, thanks to the parents and friends for their vocal support.

Just for fun!

SSF 10s Reds - 9th May 2010

A great result again for undefeated Gosnells U10 Reds. Coming away from a good win against Sutherland last week we faced a much stronger team in Kalamunda. A full turn out of players who started very brightly coming out from the starting blocks quickly resulting in Jordan putting us one-nil up. We kept the pressure on with Jordan playing deeper and putting a 20 yard through ball to Daniel whose eyes lit up as he sprinted towards goal and powered a shot to the top right corner. Kalamunda hit back with one goal. The defence was rock steady as usual with Ryan being outstanding. James was commanding his goal with good saves and confidence.

SSF10 Reds 9th May 2010 SSF10 Reds 9th May 2010

After Kalamunda scored, Gosnells stepped up the pressure again with slick passing between the players to the edge of the Kalamunda box where Patrick did a very clever chip over the goal keeper to the open net. Still the defence held strong on the attacks from Kalamunda. With 5 seconds to go Joshua popped up and made it 4-1 at half time keeping us at the edge of our seats till the last seconds.

Second half started with James and Josh switching positions and despite some fantastic work, Kalamunda came out all fired up and very quickly got through our defence to score 2 goals to get back into the game. Mohammud and Calvin worked tirelessly in midfield stopping many attacks. Gosnells managed to get a grip back of the game and started passing the ball around nicely and created numerous chances. The fifth goal finally came for Gosnells mid way through the half from Jordon, which seemed to slow the Kalamunda players down.

SSF10 Reds 9th May 2010 SSF10 Reds 9th May 2010

We hit the post a couple of times. Maddison enjoyed her time in midfield and up front and did her crunching tackles again. Natasha and Eva played very well in defence (I hope Eva's ears are OK from her Dad's enthusiastic encouragement!)

With a few minutes to go, the ball was passed from their keeper to Jordan twice who blazed the ball high over the goal (which would have made his Dad very happy to see as he plays with an oval ball!) It was great to see that we had 4 different goal scorers in the game.

SSF10 Reds 9th May 2010 SSF10 Reds 9th May 2010

Thank you for Simon, Patrick's Dad, for refereeing the match and thanks to Mohammud's mum for the oranges which were enjoyed by the whole team (and coach). Thanks also to the parents for their enthusiastic support of the team and putting away the goals at the end of the match.

Man of the Match was awarded to Ryan for the impressive tackling and reading of the game in defence. It goes to show even when we score 5 goals the team still has to defend well to close the game out.

Finally, thanks for more great photos from Eva's Dad!

Just for fun!

SSF 10s Reds - 2nd May 2010

Sutherlands Park 2 v Gosnells City 3

Another good team turn out once we found the pitch! The game started in ideal conditions for playing. Starting with our defenders of Ryan, Natasha and Maddison they kept their concentration even though they had not much to do. The midfield of Daniel, Calvin, Patrick and Josh were quickly into position to help the forward line and defended well when needed. Eva was chomping on the bit on the side line and didn't let us down when she came on.

SSF10 Reds 9th May 2010

Daniel was heading goal bound when he passed to Josh setting us off to an early lead by smashing the ball in to the back of the net.

Gosnells were creating chance after chance and bish-bosh Sutherlands were 2 up at 1/2 time. The first half saw the defence holding rock steady as usual while the attack created another half dozen chances.

SSF10 Reds 9th May 2010

At half time the players were told to keep focused, keep talking and do the training moves that we had practiced.

The second half started as the first half had finished - camped inside the Sutherlands half. The pressure paid off with a mistake from their goal keeper resulting in Daniel scoring a goal.

SSF10 Reds 9th May 2010

The Gosnells forwards worked well with pressure from Jordon, Patrick and James working together. Mohammud was tough on his tackling. Sutherlands, on a rare attack lost the ball to Patrick who did a magnificent dribble down the pitch to score, what could be the coach's goal of the season. This resulted in him being named man of the match.

Great support from parents again with a few sore throats at the end of the game!!

Thanks to Eva's Dad for the great photos!

Just for fun!

MATCH REVIEW......NUMBATS GAME ......Home to Lynwood : Gosnells 4 v's Lynwood 11

This game just never went our way! We had lots of shots on goal but just couldn't convert them! Stephen made some fantastic saves (with his new shiny gloves!) and had us on the edge of our chairs with some of his daring attempts! Colby was goal keeper second half and showed off some of his skills he learnt at goal keeper training! Benaldy seems to improve each week and made a great goal or 2 (I lost count!) Miad, our newest little star kept going and wasn't afraid to get in and have a tackle great girl power! Yusuf 'Player Of The Match' showed great stamina as he worked the pitch continuously never giving up on the chase, except when he lost his boot! And thanks to Rhyan and Jacob T for making up numbers and playing again after their game! And thank you to the parents who stayed and helped to pack away the goals...after coaching and refereeing both games this really was a huge help!

MATCH REVIEW...MAGPIES GAME...Home to Lynwood : Gosnells 5 v's Lynwood 8

The game got off to a good start, but as Lynwood found the net, we began to lose momento! Rhyan worked hard in goals fearlessly flying for the ball, whilst Brandon 'player of the match' relentlessly chased down any passing balls! Jacob T scored a great goal from a corner kick and later made some great saves in goal! As the ball ping ponged around the half way line Tara made sure she dug the boots in to get it to our end! Yasiin soldiered on despite being ill during the week with a cough and made several attack attempts! Mitchell, again this week was all over the opposition and really knows how to mark his man, and scored a fab goal! Jacob G fought until the end , playing an awesome defence game. Thanks too to Tiahna who was injured but still came done to cheer you guys on! A huge thank you to the parents - great to see you all there to help put up the goals - it is so much easier with help and extra muscle!

SSF 9s - 9th May 2010

We have 2 teams in the SSF 9s - the NUMBATS & MAGPIES!!!!

UNDER 9's NUMBATS GAME.. Away to Canning : Canning 5 v's Gosnells 0

The score definitely does not reflect the game and all the kids are praised for their gutso! Both goalies did a fabulous job of making several saves and cheering on the others from the goal line! Well done Steven & Benaldy! Colby kept Canning on their defence with several shots on goal and Yusuf showed great stamina as he worked the pitch! Amin, 'Player Of The Match' made some great tackles, making the most of his steals! And thanks to Rhyan and Jacob T for playing the 2nd half!

UNDER 9's MAGPIES GAME...Away to Cockburn : Cockburn 6 v's Gosnells 6

The team came from 3 - 0 down to catching up and have us sitting on the edge of our chairs right to the end! It was great to watch such teamwork and watching the ball getting passed into space (the 'Netball' training has paid off)! Mitchell made some great tackles and found the back of the net for his efforts! Rhyan received a free kick after been badly tripped (always pays to play clean!), JacobT kicked a stunner goal, stunning the goalie with a kick from the half way line! Tiahna never gave up on any balls that came her way, always making the chase and Tara went into tackles against the boys with no fear! Brandon played really well in defence, keeping the ball clear of the goal on several occasions. Thank you to our fearless goalies Jacob G and Yassiin who both made some spectacular saves and also played a great game on the field!
